Speed limits are generally 55 mph to 75mph on highways. Within the city, speed limits are 25 to 45 mph. Make sure you follow the speed limit, even through the construction areas, there is always a speed trap and they love getting out-of-state drivers. Also take note of gusty winds signs and the speed limits through those gusty winds zones.
|
Currently, there is little or no construction going on in the Santa Fe, NM area. If you plan on traveling to Albuquerque, be prepared to be rerouted through town. The best advice is to stay off of the roads at night, there can be animals on the road and it is hard to turn around in some places because of deep gullies in the medians of the highway. For up to date information on New Mexico road conditions call: 1 800 432 4269 or visit their website at: http://www.usroadconditions.com/nm.shtml.

Santa Fe is a very safe city. But as in any city, we recommend you keep your cameras, valuables, purses and wallets close to you. Although these incidents are uncommon, it is good practice to be prepared.

FAQ |
"Is all of the food
served in Santa Fe really spicy?" - Jason You will find some of the best cuisine in Santa Fe, NM. The spiciness comes from the authentic red chilies that are grown and dried locally. When ordering a dish that sounds spicy, ask the server how it is served and ask for the salsa to be served to the side instead of on the dish and which variety of chili is milder. Enjoy! |
